Rothiemurchus is an ideal location for the study
of the natural environment, the interaction of different land uses
and how humans have shaped what we see today.
The estate extends over some 10,000 hectares from the River Spey
(beside Aviemore), through farmland and native forest to the high
tops of the Cairngorms. The landscape and habitats are of National
and International importance, with a large area of the estate inside
the Cairngorms National Nature Reserve and within the Cairngorms
National Park.
Our team of friendly and experienced Rothiemurchus
Rangers will lead your group and ensure that they get the most
out of their visit. There is ample opportunity for discussion and
question/answer sessions with the Rangers. Participation by the
pupils is actively encouraged and considered an essential part of
the visit.
If you would like to tailor your visit for a specific project the
pupils are working on, please feel free to contact the Rothiemurchus
Rangers to discuss how we may be able to help.
